You might have heard of 2nd existence. It’s an application program created in 2003 that enables people to build avatars and check out an online world. Consumers through their own avatars can socialize with others, take part in specific or class activities, purchase and trade property, travel around the world. Customers purchase garments, things, and motions. There are 18 million users on 2nd existence.
Another business called Weopia has brought this notion and used it to matchmaking. Their site claims to allow you to “get a far better feeling of the person”, “work quicker than online dating alone” and “to help make actual life dates two times as successful”.
The style operates similar to this: you satisfy some body on an internet dating solution. In email or about phone you declare that you go on an online date. Certainly you joins Weopia and pays $5. This person delivers an anonymous mail invite to another person. You both build an avatar for your time. Then you can be involved in one of the activities â fly a hovercraft, go sailing, hang sliding. Or you can sit and “talk” via IM.
The service promises unmatched privacy and safety settings.
So, so is this creepy? A really of good use device? A strange fad? The brave new world?
Do you make use of such a service?
